When you chuck down your favorite meal. The digestive system of your body functions like a highly obedient machine. This well-ordered machine breaks down the food eaten in such a manner that the body can use it up as a fuel for providing energy. The basic functionality include – food moving from mouth to stomach to intestine, where the nutrients of the food is absorbed and rest of the roughage is pushed to the colon and via excretory organs, and the waste is removed from the body.
This is how an ideal system works. However, if this ideal system develops a kink, it can lead to a range of health issues. One of such issues is known as ‘BLIND LOOP SYNDROME’ also known by other names like – Stagnant loop syndrome, Bowel bypass syndrome and Stasis syndrome.
This condition occurs when the food we eat deviate through the normal digestive process and dodge the function performed by the intestine. The reason behind this bypass is the overgrowth of the bacteria, which makes a blind loop in the area. Hence, leading to the failure of the nutrient absorption functionality of the intestine and whole of the food is excreted as waste product.
There are various causes that lead to Blind Loop Syndrome, like –
The doctor as a treatment to the condition may introduce a course of antibiotic or corticosteroids to the patient. However, if the cause of this condition is gastric bypass surgery. The doctor may suggest another surgery to correct the problem.
If you notice any of the symptoms mentioned above that are relevant to malabsorption or blind loop syndrome, rush immediately to the doctor. Do not leave Blind Loop Syndrome untreated, it can become a serious health issue.
