Health experts say that the majority of the time, food poisoning occurs when we’re outside our homes. That is, when we eat at restaurants, delis, or cafeterias, or when we buy a quick bite from a street vendor. No doubt that fast food items sold by street sidev  vendors tickle your taste buds, but they can also cause serious health problems.
Food poisoning is very common these days. The illness resulting from eating food or drinking water containing poisonous substances including bacteria, viruses, pesticides, or toxins cause food poisoning.

Ways to Prevent Food Poisoning:

  • Prevent cross-contamination of food
  • Always check the package date
  • Store food safely in the refrigerator
  • Wash your hand before eating or preparing food
  • Cook food thoroughly
  • Respect use-by dates

Symptoms of Food Poisoning:

Symptoms may vary depending on the source of the infection. But some of the common symptoms are:

  • Abdominal pain and cramps
  • Vomiting
  • Diarrhea
  • Weakness
  • Headache
  • Loss of Appetite


Treatment for Food Poisoning:

Food poisoning can usually be treated at home if the symptoms are not severe. Keep your body hydrated, drink water, broth, or an electrolyte solution, which will replace the minerals that you lose with vomiting and diarrhea. Avoid drinking caffeine or fizzy drink, or spicy and fatty food as they can make the condition even worse.

To prevent food poisoning, practice good food habits and hygiene. If you notice that you have some of the above-mentioned symptoms or suspect that you have food poisoning but the symptoms are unpredictable then immediately consult family physician .
